Before you buy

Adopt for lifeThere are some things you should consider, especially you are considering your first dog or even the first in several years.  A Cairn Terrier from a responsible breeder can be with you for 15 years and depend on you for his health and well being.  Be prepared to make a long-term commitment.

The costs associated with providing adequate veterinary care, premium foods, and appropriate housing and socialization to our litters continue to rise.  We are forced to occasionally raise the price of our Cairns, but we ask that you bear in mind that a few dollars spent upfront in buying from a responsible breeder can save money and heartache over the lifetime of you companion.  Dogs from puppy mills, pet shops. and backyard breeders can cost their owners thousands of dollars in veterinary or behavior consultant fees due to improper socialization, inadequate healthcare, or simply poor genetics.  The price of your Cairn, divided by the 13-15 years you will have your pet, calculates to less than $100 per year.
